God's Covenant and You
How do I stand with God?
What do the Scriptures mean for me?
Does the Old Testament have any valid purpose for the Christian? What does God want the church to do now?
Covenant is found everywhere in Scripture. The very word "testament" means covenant. It is essential, therefore, to understand the nature and purpose of how God deals with man by studying the subject.
In the pages of this text. Smith traces the concept of covenant from the opening of the Biblical record to the Book of Revelation. He demonstrates that the very basis of our relationship with God is His covenant with us. Beginning with Abraham and progressing through Moses, the nation of Israel, David, the prophets and right on up through the life of our Lord, covenant is looked at from various perspectives. The significance of the Hebrew word "hesed," and the impact of the proper understanding of covenant in Reformation theology is also examined. The conclusions are surprising and very significant.
