En 1963 estuve predicando entre las montañas de México a una tribu de gente indígena llamada Otomi.  Para ilustrar cierto punto me referí a la historia de David y Goliat.  El intérprete me miró y dijo, “No conocen esa historia bíblica”.  Estas personas habían recibido a Jesucristo como Señor, pero no tenían las Escrituras y su conocimiento bíblico era muy limitado.

Mi oración es que estas breves historias ayuden a personas a familiarizarse con la Biblia.  Espero que lleguen a leer las mismas historias enteras directamente de la Biblia.  Cristo y sus apóstoles se referían constantemente a los héroes del Antiguo Testamento.  Que el conocimiento de usted de estas historias bíblicas enriquezca su entendimiento del plan eterno de Dios, y le ayude a prepararse para la eternidad.

Una de las mejores maneras para recordar una historia es repetirla.  Espero que usted no solamente lea estas historias, sino que las repita a otros.  Se dice que nadie va al cielo sólo, y que nadie va al infierno sólo.  La influencia de la vida suya toca a otros alrededor.

La primera persona en la tierra que experimentó la muerte era Abel.  Era un pastor casi desconocido, cuyo nombre se menciona unas pocas veces en la Biblia.  De todas maneras la Escritura nos informa que él todavía habla (Hebreos 11:4).  La influencia de su vida no terminó en la tumba, y tampoco terminará la de usted.  Años después de su muerte personas recordarán la vida que usted llevó y las historias que contó.

Que los que le quieren a usted le recuerden por su compromiso con Dios y su conocimiento de la Palabra de él.

Bible Stories, volume 1

In 1963 I was preaching in the mountains of Mexico to a tribe of indigenous people called the Otomi.  To illustrate a certain point I referred to the story of David and Goliath.  The interpreter looked at me and said, “They don’t know that Bible story.”  They had received Jesus Christ as Lord, but they did not have the Scriptures in their language and their Bible knowledge was very limited.

My prayer is that these brief stories will help people become familiar with the Bible.  I hope they will read the same stories in complete form directly from the Bible.  Christ and His apostles made reference constantly to the heroes of the Old Testament.  May your knowledge of these Bible stories enrich your understanding of God’s eternal plan, and may they help you prepare yourself for eternity.

One of the best ways to remember a story is to repeat it.  I hope that you will not only read these stories, but that you will repeat them to others.  It is said that nobody goes to heaven alone, and that nobody goes to hell alone.  The influence of your life touches those around you.
