Enjoy His People is the last volume in the powerful series of 4 books on the leadership of elders in the congregation written by James Estep, David Roadcup, and Gary Johnson.

This volume will take a look at the critical necessity of relationships in the life of an elder.  Relationships are not only a natural part of life, but a necessity for serving in a congregation.  Learning to live in community, enjoying the relationships into which God has called us, enables us to serve as elders and leaders within the congregation.

As an elder, one has to acknowledge that leadership requires relationships.  Elders were meant to serve as a team, not solo.  One may not think of relationships as a matter of stewardship, but consider what an elder who is not a steward of relationships would be like:  Disengaged, conspicuously absent from church events, a family that seems more dysfunctional than functional, cliquish and closed to new people.  Elders must exemplify Christ in their relationships with others.  Enjoy His People will explore the elder's relationships with his Family, the Father, Friendships with those in the Faith, Friendships with those not in the Faith, Fellow Elders and with Difficult People.

The authenticity and effectiveness of a local church is in direct proportion to the spiritual maturity, skills, and commitment of its leaders, especially its elders.  Therefore, selecting, training, supporting, challenging, and equipping elders in every way must be a highest priority in every congregation.

I want to commend Jim, Dave, and Gary and the good work they have done through these four volumes.  Every elder in the church should purchase and read these works.  As the leadership of any church goes, so goes the church.  Elders who use these volums will be better prepared to lead the body of Christ.  I highly recommend these works and pray that the Lord will use them to strengthen and equip men to effectively do the work that God as called them to do.
