No one ever spoke like this man!

They called Him "Teacher," and a teacher He was. But, the fact is: He was infinitely more than that. He was the Master Teacher! He was the Teacher of teachers. When the temple guards returned to those who had ordered Jesus' arrest, they reported, " No one ever spoke the way this man does" (John 7:46).

What was it that made this "Teacher of teachers" so special?

A careful study will reveal that the essence of Jesus' teaching is found in the parables. Jesus stated that He came to bring us "life." In fact, He has brought us abundant living, or life "to the full." in the parables, Jesus looks at abundant life in its day-to-day setting--situations and relationships which we regularly face are discussed. It is in the parables that we learn how to put life together in its proper perspective--Jesus' perspective.

Jesus taught using parables from common everyday situations. He was natural and information, not pompous nor proud. He spoke to the people, not at them. He was interested in teaching and helping people at all levels of maturity. His message was often picturesque, not always literal and boring. He used lessons from life and human experience. In addition, His message was clear and easy to understand, not hidden except from those not wanting to learn. Learning to Live From the Parables will provide a mirror of ourselves as we look inwardly throughout this study, then point out how the various parables may serve as our source of strength.
